Introducing: Annie Acorn Publishing Audio Books!

June has been an exciting month here at Annie Acorn Publishing LLC with the release of AAPub’s first audio book release, A Tired Older Woman Loses Weight and Keeps it Off! by our very own Annie Acorn, narrated by voice artist Rebecca Ortiz. As always, our award-winning cover artist Angel Nichols converts her original book covers into beautiful audio book covers. This is only the first of many AAPub titles to be released throughout 2017 and for years to come.

With the ever-growing popularity and convenience of audio books, it seemed the natural next step for our publishing house. We live in a fast-paced world where time and convenience matters more than ever. Having our publication selections available through Audible, iTunes, Amazon and other major vendors allows for maximum availability for each new title we release via audio book.

We have chosen specific voice artists for the narration of our audio productions that will enhance the experience of listening to each of our releases. Bringing their talents and expertise to the words written by From Womens’ Pens and From Gents’ Pens authors adds to the full enjoyment of these high quality audio books.

Check out these additional audio offering from Annie Acorn Publishing LLC:

Chocolate Can Kill by Annie Acorn -narrated by  Meredith MitchellChocolate always makes things better, or so Emily Harris believes until even a dozen boxes of her favorite chocolates can’t put her world back together. Returning home from a trip to New Orleans, she is pushed down the airport’s arrival escalator, and despite evidence to the contrary, she believes the push was deliberate. If this weren’t enough, her lawyer husband begins to act strangely, her oldest son brings a tramp home as his girlfriend, and two friends are murdered. Simple sayings from her childhood thread their way through her thoughts as she struggles to identify the common denominator, even as she is confined to her home, munching on chocolates.

Filled with the warm southern ambience and gentle humor that author Annie Acorn has made famous, you won’t want to miss this cliffhanger!

Also available is So You’ve Lost a Limb by D. A. Grady, narrated by Joe Barrett. In early spring of 2006, beloved From Gents’ Pens author D. A. Grady’s life changed forever when his Chevy pickup connected with a metal guard rail on highway US 290, between Austin and Houston. When EMTs arrived on the scene and placed him into their Medevac helicopter, his left leg from below the knee remained behind in his truck, still in his boot. Faced with such issues as dealing with a prosthesis, relearning how to walk, and handling phantom pain, he brought to the situation the same courage, determination and ingenuity that had held him in good stead through a long life.

Since then, he has counseled amputees ranging from Wounded Warriors to fellow amputees he met on the street. Now he has put his experiences, solutions, and suggestions into words that can be passed onto others who can benefit from his experiences, in a uniquely conversational style that allows this fact-filled offering to seem as if it’s a conversation among friends. If you’re an amputee yourself, a caregiver of an amputee, or a friend of one, the information contained in this book will be helpful to you as you chart your new course through the growing world of amputeeism.

Look for more audio books from the Annie Acorn Publishing LLC collection for your listening pleasure!

May Means Mystery! River’s Edge Cozy Mysteries

May means Mystery all month long here at Annie Acorn Publishing LLC! Join us each week as we explore the many mystery offerings available. This week, we’re highlighting the River’s Edge Cozy Mystery Series by Author Elaine Orr including first novel, From Newsprint to Footprints: A River’s Edge Cozy Mystery, and her second novel, Demise of a Devious Neighbor: A River’s Edge Cozy Mystery.

In From Newsprint to Footprints, we’re introduced to a small town news reporter whose passion for flowers lands her in deep trouble with her boss, leading her life and career in a very different direction. Check this out:

“You’re fired!” Grouchy news publisher Hal Morris sends reporter Melanie Perkins packing for taking too many photos of flowers.

Panicked at being unemployed, she lands a job as a landscaper, but an ugly surprise greets her on her first day. A pile of mulch, a tangerine, and a stolen hoe cast suspicion on Melanie.

Melanie’s efforts to find a murderer instead put a target on her back. Some of the aim is coming from law enforcement, but they aren’t the ones who want to silence her permanently. Life along the Des Moines River in Iowa can be peaceful, but a murderer has no problem disturbing her tranquility.

In this, the first novel in beloved cozy mystery writer Elaine Orr’s new River’s Edge series, the author once again offers humor, believable characters and tight prose as she carries the reader to an exciting climax. Those who follow her Jolie Gentil series will find themselves right at home.

In Demise of a Devious Neighbor, Elaine Orr’s second novel in this series, Melanie’s adventures continue as once again, she finds herself at the center of a murder investigation which hits close to home. Here’s a brief introduction to this cozy mystery:

The reverberating bangs shake Melanie Perkin’s nerves. Either someone’s aiming at her truck, or they don’t know fireworks are supposed to go upward. Could things get any worse?

Yes. The next day she discovers a dead body in the barn on her late parents’ farm, Sheriff’s Deputy Granger’s gun pointed at the chest of a primary suspect – someone she holds dear.

Illegal merchandise flooding the small Iowa town of River’s Edge, upcoming Fourth of July activities, and a half-finished manuscript all hinder her determined efforts to solve the crime, before an innocent person is convicted of murder.

In this, the second novel, the author once again offers humor, believable characters and tight prose as she carries the reader to an exciting climax.

Happy Mystery Reading!

May Means Mystery! Niki Edgar Mysteries

May means Mystery all month long here at Annie Acorn Publishing LLC! Join us each week as we explore the many mystery offerings available. This week, we’re highlighting the Niki Edgar Mystery series by Author Denise Hays including first mystery novel Niki Knows the Dirt (Niki Edgar Mysteries Book 1) and her second, Monkey Business (Niki Edgar Mysteries Book 2).

In Niki Knows the Dirt we’re introduced to an interesting, humorous and cunning woman, main character Niki Edgar. She has a unique gift perfectly suited to a little detective work and when Sheriff Jason Savage calls her to a murder scene, she arrives unaware the prime suspect is none other than her ex-husband, DeWayne’s girlfriend, Cybil. She finds out when she smells Cybil in the murder victim’s closet.

Smells her? Yes! Niki suffers from hyperosmia, a medical condition that causes her to possess a superhuman ability to smell. As you can imagine, life takes on a certain intensity for hyperosmics.

Life gets complicated when the hunky sheriff and the ex-husband she’s not quite over ask Niki to help prove Cybil’s innocence. She reluctantly agrees, then spends a horrible few days vacillating between trying to prove Cybil’s innocence and hoping to find she did, in fact, murder her husband.

A fun story filled with hilarious situations, Niki Knows the Dirt is the book to take to the beach or curl up with on a rainy afternoon. First in the Niki Edgar Mystery series, Niki Knows the Dirt introduces sassy, sexy, lovable hyperosmic Niki Edgar, the men in her life, and the trouble she can’t seem to stay out of. A first person narrative, Niki’s quirky personality and penchant for embarrassing herself will keep you wanting to know what happens next!

The hilarity continues in Denise Hays’s second novel, Monkey Business, when Niki Edgar takes her dream vacation to Costa Rica and arrives ready to rest, relax, and recuperate from a harrowing couple of years, in which she lost her husband and almost lost her life. But trouble seems to have traveled with her, and she winds up spending her much needed vacation sniffing out danger, as she vows to find whoever murdered…well, I won’t tell you that part. Denise Hays’s latest mystery will make you laugh and make you cry, often at the same time, as our favorite hyperosmic unwittingly gets involved in a little Monkey Business.

May Means Mystery! Chloe Carstairs Mysteries Series

May means Mystery all month long here at Annie Acorn Publishing LLC! Join us each week as we explore the many mystery offering available. This week, we’re highlighting author Billie Thomas’s Murder on the First Day of Christmas, and Murder in a Two-Seater, first and second novels in her Chloe Carstairs Mysteries series.

In her first novel, Murder on the First Day of Christmas, Ms. Thomas introduces us to her mystery solving duo, a mother – daughter team of interior designers. These two take their interior decorating assignments seriously, while still exhibiting all the usual mother/daughter angst that many of us have experienced ourselves. The right mix of humor and southern charm blend together to help these two solve the whatever mysterious and murderous situation confronts them.

It’s beginning to look a lot like murder.

Finding a severed hand at a client’s house might throw lesser decorators off their games. But Chloe Carstairs and her mother, Amanda, won’t let a little thing like murder keep them from decking the halls. With a body under the partridge’s pear tree and a dead Santa in a sleigh, they have to crack the case before the killer strikes again – this time much too close to home.

Filled with laugh-out-loud humor, romance and a delightfully difficult mother-daughter relationship, this new series from Billie Thomas offers a fast-paced caper as these two southern ladies try to keep their very merry Christmas from turning into the Noel from hell.

Her second novel, Murder in a Two-Seater, the design team continues their decorating and detective work.  In this mystery, a cheating wife in a classic car drives someone to murder.

Interior decorators turned amateur investigators, Chloe and Amanda Carstairs have spent the summer transforming their client’s creepy old castle into a luxury hotel. But before the first guest checks in, the owner’s wife checks out – with the help of a bullet to the head.

When Chloe’s dad is accused of the crime, there’s no time for the ladies to drown their sorrows in the hotel’s mini bar. Instead, they have to contend with a sneaky blackmailer, an unsolved murder from the past, and a cunning killer with nothing to lose.

The second Chloe Carstairs Mystery is filled with the same clever twists and hilarious mother-daughter relationship that made Murder on the First Day of Christmas such a fun, fast-paced read for an appreciative readership. The mystery will keep you guessing, but as any good decorator will tell you, even a beautiful setting can’t hide the ugly truth.

Happy May Mysteries Reading!
